International Inferno-Race Mürren

Over 2100 registrations for the downhill have been received! The International Inferno Race is now taking place in Mürren for the 80th time. Numerous former top racers will be battling for the top places on the legendary Inferno descent from the small Schilthorn and Radio BeO will be there LIVE on Saturday, 27 January. Listen from 10:00 a.m. to find out who will be racing down the 14.9-kilometre course this year. (swissgerman)

The International Inferno races in Mürren are taking place for the 80^th time this week. The cross-country skiing starts on Wednesday, followed by the giant slalom on Thursday and the prestigious downhill on Saturday. This is very dependent on the snow conditions every year. It is not possible to ski all the way to Lauterbrunnen every year, not even this year. In this anniversary edition, the route goes from the Schilthorn to Winteregg.
 

Peter Aeschimann can hardly be fazed by such things. The 72-year-old has been through all the Inferno waters and is competing for the 50th time this year. "Riding on a closed-off and more or less empty track is the best thing," he explains to Radio BeO. Aeschimann has also made some close friends through skiing and even met his wife. If he is still feeling so well in a year's time, he assures us that he will be back at the start for a 51^st time.
